We are looking for an experienced Machine Builder with a strong controls background to join our growing automation team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building custom industrial equipment from the ground up and has the skills to troubleshoot, improve, and commission complex automation systems.

We are seeking a highly motivated, multi-craft individual who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys solving challenging technical problems.

We are open to hiring either a full-time employee or partnering with an experienced independent contractor looking to establish a long-term working relationship. If you're self-employed and interested in additional project work, we'd love to talk with you.

Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and build custom machinery from engineering drawings and CAD models.
  • Install and troubleshoot electrical control systems.
  • Build, wire, and test industrial control panels.
  • Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings.
  • Install and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems.
  • Debug machine operation during assembly, startup, and commissioning.
  • Perform mechanical alignment, machine setup, and precision assembly.
  • Install pneumatic and hydraulic components.
  • Work closely with engineering to resolve design and build issues.
  • Support equipment installation and startup at customer facilities.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience building custom industrial machinery.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in precision machine assembly.
  • Working knowledge of industrial controls, sensors, VFDs, servo systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience building and wiring industrial control panels.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment (Allen-Bradley experience is a plus).
  • Understanding of machining practices, tolerances, and fabrication methods.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and pneumatic diagrams.
  • Experience with machine startup and commissioning.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 20%.

Preferred Experience:
  • Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs and HMIs.
  • Servo motion systems.
  • Industrial networking (EtherNet/IP).
  • Robot integration (FANUC, Stäubli, ABB, or similar.
